Club Constitution The Constitution of the Eaglehawk Swimming Club is modeled on that suggested by Swimming Victoria. As an affiliated club, we acknowledge and adhere to all the principles and policies of Swimming Victoria. Click here to view the Constitution and By-Laws of Swimming Victoria. |
The Eaglehawk
Swimming Club is located at the
Peter Krenz Leisure Centre in Napier St,
Eaglehawk. Our home pool is the only 50m heated indoor pool in the City
of Greater Bendigo. We are a part of Swimming Victoria's District 15
which includes 11 other Clubs from across Central Victoria.
The Club was formed in December 1954 but after 11 months was forced into recess. It remained in recess until December 1966 when a body of residents saw value in re-establishing the Club for the benefit of the youth in the Eaglehawk community. Since then the Club has continued to grow and compete strongly at meetings across regional Victoria and in metropolitan Melbourne. In 1992 our City fathers secured funds to cover and heat our 6 lane 50m pool. We now enjoy the benefit of their great foresight, being able to train and compete year-round at Central Victoria's premier sporting and leisure facility. These days our membership is drawn from across the length and breadth of the City of Greater Bendigo and the surrounding districts and towns. Nevertheless, we are all fiercely proud of Eaglehawk's long tradition of sporting excellence and success, evidence of which can be seen at every Swim Meet we attend. We proudly wear the colours of the Borough of Eaglehawk - Sky Blue and Navy Blue, colours that are worn by all of the town's sporting teams and community bodies.
During the season the Club holds a minimum of five days of Swim Meets open to all SV Registered competitors. In the early part of the season we hold the Eaglehawk Winter Series meet, a Long Course Meet held over three days - one in each of July, August and September. Swimmers accumulate points at each meet with the highest point scorers being awarded trophies at the completion of the Series. A trophy for the most successful Club is also awarded. Early in the summer season of swimming we hold the Eaglehawk Sprint Meet, usually on the week-end preceding the Swimming Victoria December Competition. To cap off the season we hold the Eaglehawk Annual Scratch Meet - on the March long-weekend. This is a more conventional one-day scratch meet. From time to time we run special events such as swimming and coaching clinics, other Meets such as the Eaglehawk Distance Meet, and Beginner's Meets specifically tailored for Learn to Swim children who may want to try competitive swimming. We conduct intra-club Time Trials during the course of the season. This gives competitive swimmers an opportunity to improve their times and Learn to Swim members a chance to swim competitively in familiar and comfortable surroundings.
While our training programs are focused on achieving success in competition that doesn't mean you have to be a competitive swimmer to be a member of our Club. A handful of our members swim just for fun, for fitness, for the social contact with friends or to supplement the training regime of other sports. To encourage you to have a try the first two weeks of training are complimentary. If you decide that the Club is not for you then you are under no obligation to continue. We think you will like it and stay! Visit the Membership page to find out more about Registration and Fees and the Squad page to learn about the different squads and training times. So, whether you want to train to compete and reach your full potential or if you just want to swim for fun and to keep fit you will be warmly welcomed by every member of our Club.
At the start of each season every member over the age of 14 is given the opportunity to take on a leadership role in the Club. This season our Club leaders are:-
